What a driveway replacement costs
These come from the last 40 driveway replacements we quoted around Dallas–Fort Worth, all standard 4-inch reinforced concrete with a broom finish. Real quotes, not a national average.
Smaller driveways cost more per square foot, because the setup, tear-out equipment and concrete truck cost about the same either way. Bigger ones come in cheaper per foot.
What moves the price
- Size. The biggest factor by far. We measure from an aerial photo first, then confirm with a tape measure before anything's final.
- What's under the old slab. Thick old concrete, a second layer poured on top, or heavy wire mesh all take longer to break up and haul off.
- Getting the truck in. If the concrete truck can't reach, the concrete gets pumped in, which adds cost.
- Finish. Stamped, exposed aggregate and other decorative finishes cost more than broom finish.
- The apron at the street. Most cities want it thicker, with more steel, and some want a permit and inspection.
What's included
- Tear-out and haul-off of the old driveway
- A compacted base, not just graded dirt
- 4 inches of 3,500 PSI concrete (thicker where the city requires it at the apron)
- Rebar on 18-inch centers, set on chairs so it sits in the middle of the slab
- Control joints cut clean, expansion joints at the house and street
- Site cleaned up, plus a 1-year workmanship guarantee in writing
Don't forget the apron
The apron, the piece between the street and the sidewalk, is the part of a driveway quote people most often get surprised by. It sits on city right-of-way, so the city sets the spec. In every DFW city we checked, the homeowner pays for it, and most want a permit, an inspection, and thicker concrete with more steel than the rest of the driveway.

Questions people ask
Should I repair or replace my driveway?
Small, stable cracks can be sealed. If slabs have sunk, heaved, or the cracks keep growing and spreading, the base underneath has usually failed, and patching the top won't hold. That's when replacement makes sense.
How long does a driveway replacement take?
Most driveways are torn out and poured within a few days, depending on size, weather and any city inspection. Then you give the concrete about a week before driving on it.
Do you need to come out before giving a price?
No. We measure from an aerial photo and send a written estimate by text. We do a quick 20-minute walk with a tape measure before the job is final, so the number holds up.
Can I finance it?
Yes. Monthly payment options are available through our financing partner, and the link is on your estimate.
